On December 17, the first workshop of the LIFE REFIBRE project – Evolution, treatment and management of wind farm waste was held. Intersectoral response of wind farm waste management.
The event was aimed at technicians / designers / construction companies / personnel from the autonomous administration / (economy and environment) and municipal / university (chemistry, engineering) / R&D entities / waste management companies / industrial centers with participation in the wind sector.
The event was organized by the project coordinator, Instituto de la Construcción de Castilla y León with the collaboration and participation of all the partners, and its objective was to bring business opportunities to the technicians of the sector around the recycling of wind turbine blades for road construction.
In the workshop, the elements of management and maintenance of wind farms have been disclosed, focused on their evolution, treatment and management. Specifically, they have been able to learn first-hand about the LIFE REFIBRE project, while that the transition to the circular economy of cities has been addressed and how to incorporate it into the companies’ strategy to generate value. In addition, it has been raised how to find business opportunities in the use of waste. Finally, the participants have been able to present their activity to professionals in the sector.
The opening of the workshop was attended by the director of the Department of Finance and Economic Promotion of the Valladolid City Council, Rosa Huertas, who explained the actions they carry out in the area of circular economy.
Sessions with all the assistents have also been held to discuss the challenges of this initiative, as well as to be able to network and synergy with other projects or companies.
